Tonight, we were fortunate enough to welcome Lt. Governors Garlin Gilchrist (UofM alum) and Brian Calley (MSU Alum, GO GREEN) to the James Madison College for a bipartisan forum on the Office of the Lt. Governor! It is safe to say that not many in the room knew full well what the duties their office possessed, but following a fun-filled educational discussion, we all became proficient in their role as LG!
This event stemmed from JMCC's core goal of promoting bipartisan civil discourse in any and all available ways. Brian Calley and Garlin Gilchrist are of different political parties, but established a friendship in transitioning out of and into their Lt. Governor Office. We were lucky enough to prod their minds for almost two hours on what exactly it means to be the Lt. Governor, and how we all can work together, form coalitions, and strive for change in our communities!
