Ushering in the start of the fall semester, a group of 12 JMCC members traveled to Mackinac Island for the 33rd biennial Mackinac Republican Leadership Conference. Hosted at the famous Grand Hotel, this event brought together renowned speakers, politicians, and stakeholders from far and wide to discuss some of the most pressing policy issues facing Michiganders. Consequently, JMCC members were offered up close and personal interactions with some of the most prominent leaders in the state and country.
Keynote speakers at the conference included: US Senate Candidate John James, Michigan Speaker of the House Lee Chatfield, former White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders, US Congressman Dan Crenshaw, Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, and Vice President Mike Pence (among others)! It was truly inspiring to be among so many successful and influential individuals. Leaving the conference with newfound motivation, dedication, (and fudge), JMCC is more excited than ever to continue leading student political engagement on campus and beyond!
